Communications/Team Chat

Channels, groups, and direct messages. One place.

A channel for every location and team, groups anyone can start, and direct messages, in the same app as the schedule. Messages carry reactions, replies, read receipts, photos, and files, and any of them can be forwarded to another chat. Admins decide who can do what. Nobody hands out a personal number.

Channels, groups, and direct messages

A channel for every location, team, or project. Groups anyone can start with the people they pick. One-to-one messages that never touch a personal number.

Reactions, replies, and read receipts

React with any emoji, reply so the answer sits next to the question, and see exactly who has read a message and who has not.

Photos, files, and forwarding

Send a photo from the camera or a file from the phone, and forward any message to another chat. Admins decide who can post, who can add people, and what can leave a channel.

Channels, groups, and direct messages

Every conversation, sorted.

Channels are set up by admins for a location, a department, or a project. Groups are started by anyone, with the people they choose. Direct messages are one-to-one or a few people. All three sit in one list on the phone and on the web, with unread counts and who is online.

Channels and groups

For the whole site, the whole team, or the people on one project.

  • Channels for locations, departments, and projects, created by admins
  • Groups anyone can start with the people they pick
  • Members added and removed as people join and leave the team list
  • Mentions for a person, a role, or everyone in the channel
  • Pinned messages and a files tab in every channel and group
  • Mute a channel or leave a group without missing direct messages

Direct messages

One-to-one, in the app, with nobody's personal number involved.

  • Message anyone in your workspace, or a few people at once
  • Presence shows who is online, on shift, or away
  • Read receipts on every message
  • Search across every conversation you are in
  • Notifications on the phone, the desktop, and the web
  • When someone leaves the company, their access ends and the history stays

Moments in a conversation

The small things that make chat work.

Reactions, replies, read receipts, photos, files, forwarding, and the permissions behind all of it.

Reactions and replies

Tap an emoji on any message. Reply to one and your answer quotes what it answers, so nobody has to scroll back.

Who has read it

Every message shows who has seen it, by name and time, as people catch up. No more "did you see my message?"

Photos and files

Send a photo from the camera or a file from the phone. Previews sit right in the conversation, and every file lands in the files tab.

Forward to another chat

Send a message, photo, or file on to another channel, group, or person, with a note if you want.

Permissions

Admins decide who can post, who can start groups, who can add people, and what can be forwarded out, per channel.

Team Chat questions.

Is chat available on both phone and computer?

Yes. Conversations stay in sync across the iOS app, the Android app, and the web.

Does Team Chat have voice or video calls?

Not yet. Team Chat is messages, photos, files, reactions, and replies, on the phone and on the web.

Can we control who can message whom?

Yes. Admins set who can start groups, who can post in each channel, and whether people can message across locations. Direct messages can be limited to managers and their own teams.

Can a message be forwarded to another chat?

Yes. Any message, photo, or file can be forwarded to another channel, group, or person. Admins can turn forwarding off for a channel that holds sensitive information.

Can managers read private messages?

Direct messages are private to the people in them. Admins can export a conversation's history for compliance, and every export is logged.
