Operations/Docs

The document, with the team inside it.

Docs is a word processor that lives in your workspace: headings, lists, tables, images, and imports from Word and Google Docs, with everyone writing in the same document at the same time. Suggestions, comments, and version history show who changed what, and sharing follows the same roles and locations as everything else.

Everyone on the same page

Named cursors, words that appear the moment they are typed, and comments on any line. No more drafts emailed back and forth as attachments.

Formatting you already know

Headings, styles, lists, tables, images, headers and footers, and page setup. Import a Word file and it opens with its layout intact.

Connected to the rest of Vantage

Mention a teammate and they get a notice, attach a doc to a task or a board item, and share it in a chat or an announcement. Share by role or location, to view, comment, or edit.

Suggestions and comments

Suggest a change. Accept it in a click.

Switch to Suggesting and your edits show as suggestions the owner can accept or reject, with your name on each one. Comments sit beside the text they are about, mention the people who need to answer, and fold away once they are resolved.

Suggesting

Change the words without changing the document until someone agrees.

  • Added words show in color, removed words are struck through
  • Each suggestion carries the name of the person who made it
  • Accept or reject one at a time, or all at once
  • The owner chooses who may edit and who may only suggest
  • Accepted and rejected suggestions stay in the version history
  • A notice goes to the owner when a suggestion arrives

Formatting

The toolbar you expect, with nothing to relearn.

  • Paragraph styles: normal text, title, and three heading levels
  • Font, size, bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough
  • Text color, highlight, and links
  • Alignment, line spacing, and indents
  • Bulleted, numbered, and check lists
  • Paint format to copy the look of one paragraph onto another

Paragraph styles

Set the style once and the outline, the headings, and an exported Word file all follow it.

  • Normal text
  • Title
  • Heading 1
  • Heading 2
  • Heading 3
  • Quote

Insert

Everything a working document needs, from the Insert menu or by typing a slash.

  • Table
  • Image
  • Link
  • Check list
  • Page break
  • Header and footer
  • Page numbers
  • Divider

Where a doc can go

A doc stays one document wherever it is shared, so every copy is the current one.

  • A task
  • A board item
  • A chat
  • An announcement
  • Word (.docx)
  • PDF

Docs questions.

Can we bring our existing documents?

Yes. Import Word files, or Google Docs downloaded as Word, and they open with their headings, lists, tables, and images. You can export back to Word or PDF at any time.

How is this different from Google Docs or Word?

It lives inside your workspace with the same people, roles, and locations, so a doc can be attached to a task or shared in an announcement without a link to another service, and sharing never leaves the company. For the writing itself, the formatting works the way you expect.

How is Docs different from Documents?

Documents, in the HR hub, keeps each person's files: signed policies, certificates, and licenses with their expiry dates. Docs is where the team writes together: procedures, plans, meeting notes, and letters.

Does it work on the phone?

Yes. People can read, comment on, and edit docs from the app. Edits made without a signal are saved on the phone and synced when it is back online.
